Marketing Outside the Box

From elementary school until now, I constantly hear people say the cliche phrase, “think outside the box“.  Thinking outside of the box is supposed to spark a creativity that is edgy and outside of the normal boundaries that you would normally confide in. When it comes to marketing, especially with small businesses, people want to be conservative.  But, what’s the harm in marketing outside the box?

Small businesses cannot compare to the marketing budgets of large corporations.  The smaller business is forced to be frugal with their spending and implement “safe” marketing tactics that will hopefully give them a great return on their investment.   Those “safe” tactics can be boring and have good chance of being overlooked.

A marketing campaign that may be outside the box may be viewed as outrageous, but provides the opportunity for your business to see a huge increase in revenue.

I think about the times when some of our clients presented us with situations that weren’t easy.  Executing a conventional marketing campaign would have left our clients in the same position as when they approached us (minus a few dollars).  But, thinking outside the box to come up with creative ads, catalogs, brochures direct mail pieces, etc. allowed us to do some marketing outside the box.

Outrageous and creative marketing can increase your revenue.  Don’t be afraid to try something new.
